The Exploration Museum offers 1 and 3 day astronaut training tours.
Astronaut Express (1 day)
This tour takes you to some of the areas visited by the Apollo astronauts during their training in Iceland. Starting from Húsavík at 8 am, the tour will take you to both Mars and Lunar like landscapes around Lake Mývatn and Húsavík. You will gain better understanding of geology, as well as learn about the training of Apollo astronauts in Iceland during the 1960s. A visit to the Exploration Museum and a 45 minute lecture about space exploration are included in the price. Offered on Tuesdays and Thursday from May 15 to October 15.

Astronaut training (3 days)
An advanced trip, focusing on the geology of Iceland, the Moon and Mars. Guided by geologists and astronomers. The days consit of field work, classes and trips to the areas where the Apollo astronauts trained during the 1960s. One night spent in tents at the original Apollo astronaut training area. (Only two tours each year, starting on July 10 and July 20)
