Pólfarar is the film division of The Exploration Museum, dedicated to producing documentaries and short-form content about exploration, science, and history. The name Pólfarar is Icelandic for “those who travel to the poles,” reflecting the spirit of adventure and discovery at the heart of our work.
Our productions include Cosmic Birth (2019), which features in-depth interviews with the Apollo astronauts about their experiences of walking on the Moon, and North Pole ’85, an upcoming documentary where we retrace a little-known 1985 expedition to the North Pole with Neil Armstrong and Sir Edmund Hillary. In collaboration with their families, the film revisits their extraordinary journey while exploring how our planet and polar regions are changing today.
Through storytelling rooted in both local and global heritage, we seek to inspire curiosity, preserve history, and highlight the human drive to explore beyond boundaries.
